I just looked at the calendar and man, college is right around the corner.  Whether you’re a freshman, or maybe you’re a senior, you’re still going to find that you’re going to be rather rusty at the beginning of the school year and that’s okay!

When you’re ready to start up college, there are going to be some things that you’re going to want to do before you start up your classes.  I don’t know about you, but I like to be prepared for you.

Get a hold of your roommate: If you’re going to be staying on campus, you probably already got a number / name for the person that you’re going to be rooming with.  What you’re going to want to do is get a hold of this person and get on the same page.  You’re going to want to decide on what you’re going to want to bring.  There’s no need for 2 TVs or refrigerators.

Get a packing list: Your list may different from mine, but you’re going to want to make sure that you have everything that you’re going to need for your dorm room.  We put together a dorm room checklist.  Be sure to check it out all the time, as we update it all the time.

Know what your expenses are: Now that you’re going to break away from your parents, you’re going to be on your own.  How are you going to make money?  What are your monthly expenses going to be?  It doesn’t hurt to write up a budget just to make sure you know where your money is going.

Be familiar with the area: If you can, try to make a few trips up to the area.  You’re going to want to explore the local city, as well as the campus.  The more you know about the school, you’re going to feel a lot more comfortable once school starts up.

Meet up with people ahead of time: If you want, you can find forums, as well as use Facebook to your advantage.  There may be a lot of people out there that you can connect with, if you want to meet up with people.  What you’re going to find is that you can network with a lot of people by doing this.

Write out a schedule: Every day is going to be relatively the same in your first semester.  You’re going to know when your classes are, but you may not know what you’re going to do after.  Create a schedule for studying, homework, and more.

Preparing for college isn’t that hard and you’re going to find that it is going to be a lot easier when you schedule ahead of time.
