Writing a College Essay in 7 Days or Less
posted by FindCollegeCards.comCollege essays take time and we all know that when you’re in college, there is no time. Some of the issues that many college students face is that essays, assignments, and everything else under the sun takes some time to do. Since most college professors give you a long time to normally do your assignments, there are some things that you can do day by day in order to complete your assignment on time.
I put together a great 7 day plan that will take you no longer than a hour or so each day. This way, you won’t have to do it all at once the night before it’s due. Remember, take action and the essay won’t be hard for you at all.
Day One: What are we doing here?
Let’s analyze your paper. What do you have to do? Do you know what you’re going to write about? Start thinking about what you’re going to write about and how you’re going to write it. Day one doesn’t necessarily involve writing but rather some thinking. Generally, the harder you think, the more the essay requires.
Day Two; It’s research time
This day is going to probably be one of the longest days you have. You’re going to want to head to your local library or hop online. You’re going to want to gather as much information as you can about the topic you’re writing about. Everything you find interesting, you’ll want to scribble down some notes. The more notes you’ll have, the better it will be for the next day.
Day Three: Your outline
This is where the writing starts. Now that you know what your paper is going to be about, let’s start writing your outline paper. I’m sure by now you know how to write an outline. If you don’t, please refer to this great outline resource.
Day Four: Research a little more
Once you have your outline laid out, go back over it and study it for a few minutes. Make sure that you’ll have enough information to create a great essay. If you find that there may not be enough information, you’ll want to go back and do a little research.
Day Five: Start a rough copy
Now we have all the research and perfect outline done. Now, we will want to generate a rough copy. This copy obviously won’t be the best copy but something that you’ll want for the finish copy. Don’t worry about the flow or the final copy just yet. Worry about transferring your outline into essay formatted source.
Day Six: Create the final
We now have a rough copy in our hands, that’s great! We now need to create this rough copy into your final copy. All this will probably take is a little tweaking here and there. Make sure that the punctuation and grammar is all correct. Once you think you have the final copy done, take a break and head onto day 7.
Day Seven: Print time!
The last day should be your favorite. After you finally have created your final copy, show it to at least 2 people. See what they think and see if they can point out some spelling mistakes, etc. Once you have done that, create your cover sheet and everything else necessary and hand it in.
Yes, the 7 days may seem long but think about it, if you have a game plan set up, it’s going to be a lot easier than doing your work all in one night. Doing your work in one night is only going to cause more stress for your body which isn’t good. Keep a plan in place and you’ll do just fine with your work.
