Do you have a passion for learning another language or have always dreamed of visiting another country?  If so, college students have many great opportunities to achieve those goals.  If you’re serious about getting a degree in some kind of foreign language whether it’s Spanish, German, French or any other language you may be capable of having your dreams come true!  When studying a foreign language many colleges offer opportunities to have their students go to the country for a certain period of time to go and learn over there.  This is a once in a life time opportunity and if you have the chance you should definitely take advantage of it or at least consider it.  What does studying abroad have to offer?  Read below and find out what you could do with your future.

Learning the language – If you really want to learn a certain language there is no better way to learn it than to go to the country itself.  Not only is everything translated to the language you want to learn but that will be the language that everyone will be speaking.  You get the opportunity to really learn the language as how they speak it.  There is a lot of slang that is spoken in German and through college you usually won’t get to learn even have of it.

Culture – When taking a foreign language class you get a good idea of what the culture is like but not the total gist of it.  If you’re really interested in knowing everything, once again there is no better opportunity than to go to the country.  You get to see what their lives are like on a daily basis, their morals and a good idea of their religion as well.  There is so much to learn that a college class can’t show you.

Scenery – If you’re going to teach a foreign language for your major in college you’re going to want to know everything.  Scenery is a huge and very important part to understand when teaching the language.  When you visit there, you get to really see what the climate and temperatures are like.  You will know how the weather is on a daily basis, what the seasons are like and what the area has to offer.  You will be able to explain to your class that the area is full of desert, mountains, lakes/rives, flat land, you name it.  You get to really know what it is like instead of just looking at your textbook pictures.

Atmosphere – Another very interesting part of studying abroad is you that you can get a great sense of the atmosphere.  When they are there what do they do on a regular basis?  Do they have a busy life, a life that is less stressful and calm or very hectic.  Everyone has a different lifestyle and you can get a great idea what theirs is like based on their daily schedules.

There is so much you can learn when studying abroad that you can’t learn when you’re in college.  If you have the opportunity to study abroad and you’re really interested in knowing the language to perfection this is your best chance!
