What is the Average College Tuition?
posted by FindCollegeCards.com
When researching tuition for your colleges, you’re probably wondering what the average number is. You don’t want to pay too much, but you don’t want to be too cheap either. As you know, the most popular, and credible schools are going to charge an arm, and leg, while your smaller colleges are going to charge less.
Are you going to get more when you pay more? This isn’t always the case. I sort of compare it to a pair of pants, or let’s say a purse. When you buy a purse, or pair of pants, you may buy it for the brand name. The same goes for a college, and an education. Many employers will hire more from a particular college, compared to others.
What is the Average College Tuition?
- In 2009, 4 year private colleges are going to charge you around $32,000, while your 4 year public college, or university is going to be around $6,000.
- A public 2 year college average is around the $2,500 mark.
- If you’re going to be an out of state student, attending a public school, the average tuition is at about $11,000.
Now, remember that these are the averages. There are over $150 billion worth of grants and financial aid that you can qualify for. If you’re not out there hunting, you’re going to find that you’re going to have to pay full price. From scholarships, to financial aid, apply for it all, and see what comes of it.
About 65% of students that are going to college now are on some sort of aid. That’s a high number, and you can be there too! The ones that don’t apply are the ones that don’t try, or put effort in.
