Did you just take your SAT and found out that your score is below average?  If this sounds like you, you don’t have to worry just yet as you’re going to find that there are a lot of options that you can take.

I wanted to guide you along a few paths that you may want to take, as well as list a few colleges that may accept you, even though you have a lower SAT score.  It isn’t the end of the world, trust me, as a college is going to look at a lot more than just a score.

You may want to consider retaking

You can retake your SAT but it’s going to show up as a “score choice.”  This is going to tell the colleges that you have taken the test more than once.  Keep in mind that some schools won’t accept a score choice score, so be warned!  Also, you will find that almost 50% of test takers that take it again will either have the same score, or even go lower!

Consider your community college first

Since your community college is going to take just about anyone, you’re going to find that as long as you graduate High School, you’re going to get accepted.  This is a great way to take courses here, get your 2 year degree and advance to another university.  By doing so, when you attend a community college first, you’re going to be able to bypass the ACT and SAT most of the time, when you apply for your university down the road.

Now that I have those two paths out of the way, I wanted to list a few colleges that don’t even look at SAT / ACT scores, as well as colleges that accept those with lower scores.
