Buying an actual textbook can cost any college student a lot of money.  In today’s digital world, we should all take advantage of it and go the download route.  While most of your textbooks can be found online, some students don’t know where to go in order to download actual textbooks.  Downloading textbooks will not only save you money but it will also save the environment.  I did a quick search online and asked some college students around campus and found the top 5 places to download textbooks:

CafeScribe - CafeScribe.com is probably the best website online that allows you to download textbooks for your class.  The thing I like about this website is that you’re able to search text throughout the book as well as share notes with classmates taking the same class across the globe.  So, not only can you read the book, you can share ideas and answer each other’s questions.  It’s almost like a social atmosphere as well.  CafeScribe is 100% free to register.

Textbook Torrents- With textbooktorrent.com, you’ll get mixed reviews on this website.  At first glance, it looks like a typical torrent site, so use it at your own risk.  All books on here are shared by other users.  In order to download books on this website, you’ll have to register and download a BitTorrent down loader in order to use the books.  This website is intended for tech savvy users.

iChapters- iChapters.com is another great site to buy books for online purposes.  The only thing I don’t like about this website is that the prices seem to be a little pricey for an online download.  I viewed a couple of the books on their database and some books were only a few dollars more to purchase them.  What makes this website unique is that you can download one chapter only, if you don’t want the whole book.  This is the sole reason I like this site.

Freeloadpress- The message freeloadpress.com is trying to tell everyone is that college students shouldn’t pay for their textbooks.  I like this message and I’m sure you do to.  Freeloadpress works with publishers so that they can put their book on their website for free.  The only thing you need to do is register and download the book.  The only downfall to this website is that you’re not going to get a big selection but if you’re looking for additional learning material for your courses, this is a great website to check out.

Amazon Kindle- This isn’t really a website but more of a really cool device that you can carry with you to all places.  If you’re unfamiliar with this product, the Kindle allows you to buy a book online and have the book sent to your Kindle within seconds.  This device is well worth the price tag if you like to read a lot of books.  Not only can you download textbooks to this device, you can download just about any other type of book.  If you intend on purchasing this device, you’ll be able to use it long after college.
