Whether you’re fresh out of high school or you’re 35 years old, it’s never too late to attend college and get your degree.  No matter how you look at it, you’re going to gain the college experience, make new friends and learn about a career that you’re truly interested in.  Studies have shown that a person with a college degree will earn one million dollars lifetime than someone without one.  Now, here are the top 8 reasons why you should attend college.

The best investment ever- As I already mentioned above, a college student with a degree is going to make a lot more money than a person without a degree in their lifetime.  So, if you think the initial investment of college is a lot, just think of your future instead of the now.  You’ll easily gain that money back in the long haul.

  1. You’ll meet new people- College is probably one of the best places to network with new people.  These people whether they’re your teacher or a student can help you down the road with job prospects, information, or they can truly make a great friend that you can hang out with every once in a while.
  2. You’ll learn more – The whole point of college is to learn about your career.  Do you think if you want to become a doctor, you can just go into the hospital and fill out an application?  Patience pays off and the more you learn, the more you earn.  But remember, just because you know a lot, it doesn’t mean you’re going to make a lot.  You’re going to have to have good work ethics as well.
  3. You’ll have more job options – When you get a college degree, the door opens to so many more job options.  Now, instead of applying for retail and fast food, you’ll actually be able to apply for jobs that offer higher pay and benefits and the company will actually treat you like a human being instead of a number.
  4. Work a job you love – Let’s face it, there aren’t many jobs out there that you can just apply for and love.  How many people do you hear that say they love working at McDonald’s?  Find a career you love and work hard at getting your degree.   There so many jobs out there, make sure you do your research and find the job that will fit your needs.
  5. Get a sense of security – With a college degree, you’re going to have a sense of security seeing that most employers love seeing a college degree on your resume.  A degree will show that you’re motivated and willing to reach a particular goal.
  6. Reach a personal goal – There’s no better feeling than getting a degree and having that sense of reaching a goal in life.  A degree will make you feel like a whole another person.  Deep down inside, you’ll know that you stepped above a high school education and got that degree that will take you to the next level.
  7. Pocket more money – The whole point of going to college shouldn’t be to get more money but let’s face it, in the long run you’re going to make more than your neighbor who has no degree at all.  If you focus on getting your degree and don’t let anyone discourage you, you can really make a lot in the long run.
  8. Lessen the competition – The workforce is filled with millions of people looking for jobs.  With a degree, you’ll be able to take a leap above those with no degrees and experience.

There aren’t many disadvantages to getting a college degree.  Some may disagree but don’t let anything including loans set you back.  Now, you don’t need a degree to get a lot of money.  Look at higher up CEO’s that barely have college educations and see where they are today.  So, don’t think that you need a college education to succeed in life.
