When in college, we often have that one class or even a few classes that we struggle in.  Not every college student can be perfect in every subject given to them.  Since we can’t be good at every subject in college we need to sometimes focus more on that subject, and give it some time for the information to sink in.  Studying in college is very important, and will help you get the grades you want, but there are certain things you can do while studying that will even help you out more.

10 Study Tips for College Students:

  1. Take advantage of the office hours.  They are there for a reason, and if you can get one on one with the professor that will only help you out even more.
  2. You don’t ever want to procrastinate in college.  College is way too fast paced for you to slack.
  3. When studying for a test, use a study guide to help you.  They will give you a better idea for what is on the test, than you will by cramming random information in your head.
  4. Learn new information while it is presented in class.  If you can just pay attention, you will soak up so much more information than you would if you stayed up late the night before to study.
  5. Choose a nice environment to study in.  Make sure it is quiet, away from distractions, and even more helpful, make sure it’s away from your house or your bedroom.
  6. Study groups are also great when you want to study.  You can learn from others, while they can learn from you.
  7. Make sure you stay organized throughout the semester.  You will be able to find papers easier, and it will all flow in the right order.
  8. Read through your textbook.  A lot of college students pay hundreds of dollars for their book, yet never use it.
  9. Try to ask your professor if they can give you any hints for what will be on the test.  Ask what the major parts of the test are about.  This way you can avoid studying for the wrong stuff.
  10. Make sure you get a good nights sleep, and eat a good breakfast the morning of the test.

Studying for a test is a must if you want to get a good grade in college.  We can no longer “wing” a test like we might have been able to in high school.  There is a lot of information to be known on a test, and if you follow these study tips, you’ll do just fine!
