Tips for Getting up Early in College
posted by FindCollegeCards.com
Ugh, we all hate to get out of bed early, especially if it’s for something we don’t want to go to, like college or work. Unfortunately not every class is scheduled for the perfect time, which I’m sure you’ve already noticed. Some classes in college are only scheduled for early in the morning.
When classes are scheduled for early in the morning it is so tempting to just “go back to sleep for a few more minutes.” Although, what happens when we do this is we never wake back up in time! If you’re someone that struggles with getting up early, continue to read below to find out how you can make it easier.
Split second – When your alarm goes off, get up the split second it goes off. You never want to just lay there and think about getting up. If you do, you’ll find that you’re too comfortable and you probably will fall back asleep. So, get up ASAP!
Far away – Try to set your alarm clock farther away from your bed. If you can do this, you will have to get out of bed and go get it. Once you do that, you’ll realize that you’re already up, and you might as well stay up.
Radio – If you can, try to set your alarm clock with the radio playing. That annoying “eeee” “eeee” gets old, and we often just smack it to stop. If you can wake up to a good song you’ll wake up much happier.
Double set it – A lot of college students are using their cell phones to wake them up in the morning. Try to double set your alarm. This means set it for the time you want to wake up, and then another one for 5 minutes later. That way if you do happen to doze off on accident, you can at least wake up from the second one.
Go to bed earlier – It’s a common thing, teenagers and college students go to bed late! Try to go to bed a few hours earlier or at least plan on getting 7-8 hours of sleep a night minimum. If you go to bed earlier, you can wake up with more energy.
Sleep is a thing that college students need to function. Otherwise we feel miserable, worn out, and we can’t focus in class. So, make sure you start going to bed earlier, and really consider these tips listed above. If you can get into a good habit, waking up early each morning will just become a routine!
