Once we hit our junior year in high school, we really start to think about our future college plans.  We start to brainstorm what we want to get a degree in, and where we want to attend college to get that degree.  One of the biggest decisions you’ll make when you start thinking about college is whether you want to go away for school or if you want to attend a college that is local.

If you’re thinking about going away for college, check out what the perks are for that decision, by reading below!

Independence – Once you go away to college, you really start to become more independent.  You’ll realize that you don’t always need your friends and family around all the time.  Instead, you can rely more on yourself which is important for your future.

Grow up – Also, you’ll really grow up when you go away to college.  You’ll see what it’s like to live on your own, maybe have a job up there, and see what it’s like to work your butt off for what you want in life.

Great education – It seems like people say they get a better education when they go away for college than when they commute and stay at home.  You’ll realize that you’re this far away from home to succeed in college, and really, you’ll have more distractions than you would at home.

Different atmosphere – It is great to have a change in atmosphere once and awhile.  Change is a good thing, and going away to college will definitely bring a different atmosphere, which is good for you.

Friends – When students go away to college, they make more friends than they’d ever imagine.  You realize that you need to be more social, since it’s just you, and almost immediately you’ll start to make new friends!

Going to college is very important these days.  So whether you go away to college or you commute, you just want to make sure you’re going.  They both have their perks and downsides, but if you’re looking to go away to college, consider some of these benefits!
