The Importance of Sleep in College

It is very common for a college student to not meet the daily requirement of sleep each night. It is said that you should at least get 8 hours of sleep on a daily basis. Although, most college students don’t even come close to that. A college life consists of homework, class, friend time, partying, more studying and working a part-time or full-time job. So, when do they have time to get all this sleep? Although it may be tough, it is very important that the sleep hours are met. Why is it so important? Continue to read below to find out.
Healthy – It is always important to keep your body happy and healthy. One way you can do that is by getting enough sleep. Get at least 8 hours of sleep each night. This means you will get sick less often because your body won’t be run down and you won’t have to worry about missing class because your sick. Instead you will be full of energy, happy and healthy.
Concentration – There is nothing worse than trying hard to NOT fall asleep in class. Class is boring as it is but when you’re tired as well, that just makes things even worse. It is impossible to pay attention, comprehend things, concentrate and remember things.
Performance – Also, if you don’t get enough sleep each night, your performance will be awful. Do you have an important test to pass in the future? If so, make sure you get enough sleep! If you don’t you’re guaranteed to get a lower score than if you would of had sleep.
Stress – Stress is another thing you will have to worry about due to lack of sleep. You will feel awful, constantly tired and have a ton of things to do yet no energy to do them.
Tired – Another thing, you will be guaranteed that awful feeling of being tired. You will feel lazy, tired and not want to do anything. There is nothing worse than yawning 10 times in a row because you can barely stay awake.
It is so important to make sure you get the daily requirement of sleep each night. To do so, make a schedule for yourself. This will keep your life organized, healthier and way happier. Not only that but it will also allow you to do SO much better in college!
