We can never predict the unexpected.  Sometimes this is a good thing, and other times its a horrible thing.  We all know that college students are tight on money, but there are a few things you should always have and keep.  One of those important things is health insurance.  If you’re moving out of state, or your on your own and your parents don’t cover health insurance for you, you should definitely consider getting some.

Health insurance is something that is a must for everyone.  We can’t tell when we’re going to need to go to the doctors, when we’re going to get sick, need surgery, break a bone, etc.  Since all of these things are totally capable of happening at any point in time, health insurance is something that is very important to have.

If you didn’t know already, one of the biggest reasons people are in debt is simply because of medical bills.  Just an office visit, in and out can cost $100.00, and surgeries can be thousands of dollars!

So, if you’re a college student that is thinking about not getting health insurance or getting rid of it because it seems too “costly”, you should definitely think about that again.  What’s worse, paying a little bit each month, or having something happen, and then you’re out thousands of dollars?  There are many reasons you should have health insurance.

  • Cheaper office visits.
  • Cheaper physicals, lab tests, x-ray, etc.
  • You’re covered for a certain amount usually around $100,000 or more!
  • You don’t have to worry about getting sick and avoiding the doctor because it’s “too much money”.
  • It’s just a small payment each month to be covered tremendously.

As you can see, health insurance has many benefits and is extremely important to have.  Too many people don’t have health insurance, and regret it completely when something happens.  So, like I said, you can’t predict the future, so make sure you’re covered!
