When in college we are looking for as many ways to help pay for it as possible.  We are usually tight on money, find it hard to pay the bills and can’t get over how expensive college is.  There are a few different ways to save on college tuition.  You can either try applying for financial aid or you can try applying for scholarships.  Whether you qualify for financial aid or not it is always good to still apply for scholarships.  What makes scholarships so great and why are they so important to apply for?  Continue reading below to find out.

Saves you money – College scholarships are great because they save you money.  Let’s say you spend $1,000 per class so about $3,000 per semester just including the price of class.  Now, lets say you’ve applied for a scholarship that is worth $2,000 and you won it.  You now only have to pay $1,000 instead of $3,000.  This here just saved you $2,000!  Think of what you can do with that much money.  You could save that money for books, car payments, cell phone bills, gas, etc. 

Allows you to save more – Lets continue with the same scenario above.  Since you’ve saved $2,000 you can now put that into your savings or pay off other bills that have been creeping up on you.  It is so important to try and save money in college.  Once you graduate you will most likely be buying a house soon, getting a better car, having children, getting married, etc.  All of these things cost an arm and a leg so it is important to have as much money saved up as possible.

Free money – We always talk about how nice it would be to win the lottery.  How nice would it be to have someone just hand you a money?  It is a good feeling, relieves stress and makes you just that much richer.  So what is the difference between winning the lottery and winning a scholarship?  A scholarship is just like free money, allows you to save money and is that helping hand in helping you pay your expensive tuition.
