When I went to Spain for the first time I noticed that my textbook Spanish could only get me so far- and that wasn’t that far AT ALL. There were so many new words and uses for them that I had yet to learn. Hearing the different Spanish accents and seeing everything in Spanish all day long definitely aided my language learning. I am certain I wouldn’t have progressed so quickly if I hadn’t gone to Spain. It’s not a hard comparison between text book language, and real live language.
