Saves money – When you cook for yourself you are saving yourself a lot of money in the long run. When we go to a fast food place we’re guaranteed to spend about $5 each meal x3 meals a day we’re at $15 a days! Instead, you can get a few groceries each week for about $25and be set for the week. Pick up produce (which is cheap), some bread, and a few different meal ideas. Simple things like cereal last a long time and are much cheaper.
Less trips – When you go grocery shopping one time per week you are saving all those trips you’d have to make each day to grab a bite to eat. So, you have to take the time to get there, waste gas money and then pay for food. Not to mention, it’s much more convenient having it already in the refrigerator.
Healthier – When you cook for yourself it’s usually a lot healthier. You will be able to avoid putting in certain ingredients and be able to customize your meal just the way you want it. Also, you will usually be much more health conscious of what you put in it.
Practice – Cooking on a regular basis is a great way to boost your culinary skills. You will tend to like more and more foods, and be able to make your favorite dishes without having to go out to a restaurant to get them.
Cooking in college will give you something to do, will teach you a lot, and will most likely get you to be a lot more healthier. Cooking is a great thing, and will save you a ton of money down the road!
