The Benefits of a Voice Recorder in College:

Back up:  First of all, when a college professor is lecturing we cannot stay focused for the entire thing.  They say that our attention span is half our age in minutes.  Therefore, if you’re only 20 years old you’re only going to be able to listen for up to 10 minutes at a time. 

They are so great because you can listen to the whole lecture again if you’d like, rewind to a certain part that you missed or use this as a study device  the night before an exam.

Dates:  Our professors are always giving us the dates things are due, when exams are, when class is canceled, etc.  You can always go back on your recorder and re-listen to these dates if you’re confused or want to double check something.  Once you have that cleared it’s best you write it down in your agenda.

Notes:  If you don’t want to take notes in class but instead pay attention fully, use a recorder!  It’s hard to take notes and listen to what the professor is saying that second and to remember what they said to take the notes.  At the end of the day, you can replay and do an outline of all the important notes.

Help someone out:  If you had a friend that was gone and missed class you can let them listen to your recorder.  Or, if you know you’re not going to be in class that day you can give it to a friend so that way you can listen to what your professor said when you were gone.

Back track:  There always comes that time when you swear your professor said something in class and they deny it.  Whether it was an important date, the definition of the term you’re learning or perhaps the assignment.  You can always back track and prove to your professor they said it if you have proof.  This is great for exams if they marked something wrong that they said was right.
