The Advantages to Online Classes
posted by FindCollegeCards.comWhen taking college classes there will usually be a choice between an online class or a campus class. Both of the choices have great advantages but some online classes have been known to be more convenient and easy to work with.
You create your own schedule instead of the college
When taking an online class you will basically be making your schedule for school instead of the college. There will be no need to change your work schedules or work around anything else with an online class. Instead you will simply work on your school work either on your days off from work, before work or after. Whether you are working on your homework at eight in the morning or nine o’clock at night it is okay as long as you get it done.
You do your homework whenever you have time.
Another nice thing about an online class is that you can do all your work for the week in one day or simply split it up into a couple days. Instead of going usually two days a week to school and finding out what needs to be done the day of, you will find out the week schedule. The advantages of finding out your weeks schedule is you can figure out about how much homework you will have for the week and how long it is going to take. Online classes work around your schedule which is nice for people who have children, people who work full-time, or people that travel for business and are not in the area often.
You learn at your own pace & have the opportunity to graduate earlier.
A great advantage with an online class is you learn at your own pace. You are in control of the schedule which makes things only easier for you. If you are in class and a student does not understand something the professor is going over; the professor may spend an extra 20 minutes on something useful to you. With online classes you are able to skip over everything you already know and go over things you do not understand as many times as you please. Also online classes are known to be much shorter than campus classes. Campus classes usually range from 12-16 weeks while online classes range from 8-10 weeks. If you have a goal in graduating as early as possible and are motivated you can finish earlier with online classes than campus classes.
You are still able to interact with your classmates and professor very easily.
Even with online classes there are ways of asking your professor questions and interacting with people. There will always be a number you can call to reach your professor or an e-mail address to reach the professor and students in your class. There is a discussion forum where you can ask questions or just talk about anything to interact and get to know the people in your class. Regardless there is always someone to get a hold of if you have questions or need advice on an assignment.
Helps save money on gas, and gives you more time.
With the drastic rise in gas prices, the budgets for many people are getting tighter. People are doing anything to save on gas and an easy way to continue that is by taking an online class. A college campus that is 15 miles away making it 30 miles in total driving distance will cost someone almost $8 if they get 15 mpg. Campus classes are usually 12-16 weeks long going two times a week. In the end you will be spending roughly $192-$256 just in gas per semester. With the expenses on things today especially school, you can easily cut out the price of gas, save time and your money by taking an online class.
As you can see there are many advantages to an online class. Not only do you make your schedule, do as much work as you want per day, go at your own pace, save on gas and time you are getting the same amount of credit as someone at a campus class.
