As a college student, you’re soon going to find out that you’re going to need to make some money on the side. Whether you need money for gasoline, food, or whatever else it may be, you may not just have the time for a part time, or full time gig.
Thankfully for holiday breaks, you may be able to land yourself a temporary gig, where you don’t have to commit yourself full time. Some of the best times to take advantage of these jobs are during the summer and holiday breaks.
I wanted to give you 9 ideas that you can use when you’re looking to find a temporary job that’s going to work for you.
#1 Start your own landscaping gig – Everyone around town is looking for some sort of landscaper. It honestly isn’t that hard to start up something like this. Post an ad on Craigslist, hand out flyers, and more. It’s not going to cost much to start up either.
#2 Become a painter – There are many painting companies that are looking for help in the summer months. You can either look for help online in the classified ads, or if you wish, you can call up some contractors to see if they need help.
#3 Summer camps - Just about town has some sort of summer camp, where you can assist younger kids. These camps are always looking for helpers to help them out.
#4 Rec centers - Just like the camps, there are recreation centers that need your help with assisting younger children. Whether it’s for baseball, football, or something else, it’s a great job to hold during the Summer.
#5 Retail stores – Retail needs lots of help during the holiday months. Sure, you can find some of these shops in the summer as well. My word of advice is to check out seasonal shops such as nurseries and other places that deal with seasons.
#6 Farm stands - The midwest is known for having side fruit stands. These farmer based markets may only be opened during the summer. This is a great time to take advantage of ask if you can help. You can help with stock, the cash register, and more.
#7 Internships – Many people think that internships don’t pay you, but this couldn’t be further from the truth. While this is a great time to work toward your degree, you can start searching for some to see what works for you.
#8 Marketing - Many places are looking for college students to help them sell stuff. Sure, while you will most likely have to sell things door to door, this may be a great option for those looking to get into a marketing career.
As you can see, there are a few options that you can choose from. There’s a lot more to this list. Go out there, check out the classifieds, network, and more. By doing so, you should be able to find yourself a decent temporary job.
