Going to College in the Summer
posted by FindCollegeCards.comGoing to college can be stressful for any college student but when you think about taking summer classes, it could make your stomach turn. While it both has it’s upsides and downsides, let’s look on the bright side and see why you should go to college in the summer.
Finish classes faster – If you hate college or you’re just in a rush to get your career going, summer classes will get you a lot closer to that graduation mark. Let’s do the math here. If we take one class for three summers, that’s three classes. A typical semester at most colleges is three classes. This right here will knock off ten weeks or so.
Keeps you busy – Most college students think they will be busy during the summer because they will have all their friends from high school. This will not be the case! You’ll find out that 95% of your friends are going to disappear and go every which way. By the time you’re 30, you’ll be lucky to have five friends. I know it sounds sad but the future should focus on your career and family. Now, to the point. During the first summer out of college, you’re going to find yourself very bored if all you’re doing is a full time job. You’ll probably want to take one class just to keep yourself entertained and busy. A full time job and one college class won’t hurt you.
Keeps you in rhythm- Have you ever wondered why some of your friends don’t continue to go to college after one semester? It’s probably because they took a semester off and just fell out of rhythm. This can be a very dangerous thing if you fall out of the schedule. Once you skip a few weeks, it’s extremely hard to motivate yourself to go back. While some can go back, don’t fall into the crowds that don’t want to go back. Going during the summer will help you a lot to keep the brain going and will also keep your schedule in tact.
Going to college during the summer isn’t that bad. You don’t necessarily have to take three classes. Instead, take one class just to keep that classroom atmosphere. On top of taking classes during the summer, you’ll also be a step closer to graduation. In the long haul, it’s always nice to have summers off but just think of it, if you’re just taking one class, how much time is that really going to take up?
