Student Housing: Looking At The Benefits
posted by FindCollegeCards.comStudent housing is a term that you’ll hear a lot when you’re about to attend college. Student housing has a lot of advantages that many students may not know about. I’m going to point out some benefits that you may not be aware of.
Location – The best thing I think that student housing offers is location. When you stay on campus, you’re going to be a walk away from everything like your library, cafe, and even classes. When you stay off campus, you’re going to have to drive and get up even earlier in the morning just to attend classes. Let’s not forget, you’re going to have to even have to burn more gas.
Not a lot of responsibility- With student housing, you’re not going to have to worry about paying your electric bill, maintaining the lawn, heating the house, etc. When you stay within the dorms, you won’t have to worry about anything since it will all be taken care of by the school. Let’s not forget that when you pay your tuition and you’re staying on campus, your housing is included with that price.
Save more money – As I already mentioned, you’re going to save a lot of money by staying on campus. You won’t have to waste your gas, you won’t have to worry about your high heating bill or renter’s insurance. Staying off campus may have it’s perks but you’re going to pay for them.
Experience – When you stay on campus, you’re living the college experience. You’ll be closer to the group meetings if you join a club, you’ll be able to interact with more students since you’re on campus, and you’ll have access to all of your college’s amenities 24/7.
When it comes to student housing, there are so many advantages. If you care about your money and you want to save as much as possible, it’s probably best to stay on campus. Sure, your dorm room may not be the best thing in the world but it all depends on what college you’re attending. Some colleges you’ll be able to rent homes closer to campus compared to others where you may be miles away. Do your research on the schools and see what would work out best for you. Work out a budget and your decision should come when you decide if you want to stay on campus or off campus.
