You’re going to find out that once you hit the dorm rooms at your college, there are going to be many rules that you’re going to have to follow.  Since many of the dorms are different on campus, I wanted to point out a few that you should know of, before you screw up, and potentially get in trouble.  Since you’re going to be there to learn, you won’t want to get on the college’s bad side right away.

  • No alcohol: Even if you’re over the age of 21, you’ll find that most colleges aren’t going to allow this.
  • No firearms: This is obvious, but many still attempt.  This can get you in some serious trouble.
  • No drugs: This is another obvious one.  Don’t try to attempt to smuggle things in.
  • Curfew: Yes, there are many colleges that have a curfew.  It doesn’t mean you have to go to bed, but rather keep it down.
  • One gender only: Many colleges have gender oriented dorms, and don’t allow the other gender to come in.  While this is at some colleges, it’s not at all of them.
  • No pets: A majority of the colleges have a strict no pets rule, because of allergies, etc.
  • Appliance rule: Some colleges are strict with these when it comes to microwaves, refrigerators, etc.
  • No loud music: You can play the loud music at home, but you have to keep this down at college.
  • No new roomies: If you want to bring in a new roommate, this is going to be prohibited by your school most likely.

All rules are different, and if you go to your school’s main website, you can find a set of rules right on their dorm page, or if you do a search, something will most likely come up.
