Student Credit Card Applications
posted by FindCollegeCards.comSince college season is right around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about establishing your credit as a young adult. You may hear negative things about credit cards, but these are the people who don’t know how to manage their finances. As long as you can pay your card off in full each, and every month, you won’t have a problem with student credit cards.
Now, when you’re ready to start your hunt for a student card, there are a few things that you’re going to need in order to fill out the application.
Your basic information
When I say basic information, you’re going to need your Name, Address, and either your college address, home, or both. This will all depend on the card that you’re applying for. Most student based cards will ask for documentation that’s proving that you’re going to college.
Social security number
A lot of students, and people are hesitant when it comes to giving personal information such as your social security number. While I don’t blame you for doing so, as long as the credit card application is secured through SSL, your information will be encrypted. The credit card companies need this in order to check your financial history, as well as pull a credit score.
What college you’re attending
Since you’re going to be applying for a college card, you’re going to have to supply the bank with your college information. Things such as your college address, what school you’re going to, as well as a phone number, etc. The more information you have about your college, the better it is.
Have proof you’re going to college
You can’t just type in college information, and expect the application to go through. Some banks will ask for physical evidence, such as a student ID photocopy, a bank statement, or something that can show them that you’re going to that college.
Have a security question ready
If you ever lose your password, or you forget how to log in, or you need to ask a question to customer service, they are going to ask your security question. It’s important that you remember the answer, because if you do forget, you may find you can’t get the information that you need.
Financial information
Yes, credit card companies want to know how much you make, and with the new Card ACT coming into place, you’re going to need to make some of kind of money each month in order to get a card. It doesn’t make sense to hand out cards to those that can’t pay their bills. Here, you’ll supply them with how much you make a month.
