Are you planning to go to college in the near future?  If so, you may be unaware of how to get things rolling and unsure how to get on the right path.  Applying to a college isn’t hard but if you’ve never done it before you’re going to be clueless.  If you need some assistance and some steps to follow to make sure you apply correctly, continue to read below!

Whether you’re in high school right now or you’re an adult it will be easy for you to apply, here are the steps:

• First, check to see if the college you want to apply to has an online application process.  If they do, you can follow the steps on the website and actually submit your application online.
• Once you get to the website, follow the steps and fill out all the information you need to.
• Next, you will probably need your transcripts from both high school and college (if you’ve already gone to college previously).  You can get your transcripts requested online from your college and you will have to contact your high school’s counseling office to make sure you get those sent as well.
• Next, make sure you have money in your bank account so you can pay the application fee.  Most of the colleges have an application fee so don’t be surprised.  You can send it online, all you need is a credit card.
• Now, all you can do is simply wait it out.  It may take 1-2 months, so don’t get discouraged if you don’t get a response right away.

As you can see the steps for applying to college are rather easy and if you follow the ones above, you’ll be just fine.  Good luck to wherever you apply to go to school.  If you don’t get accepted the first time, you can usually apply as many times as you’d like.  If the reasons for not getting accepted are due to your low scores on the SAT or ACT retake them!  Do all that you can to get in, and just don’t give up!
