Staying Safe on College Campus
posted by FindCollegeCards.com
Safety is something we need to think about on a daily basis. Whether we’re just going to the grocery store, we’re driving, or we’re walking around our college campus, it is always something we should keep in mind. Most college atmospheres are calm, and relaxed but it is always better to be safe than sorry. If you’re looking to stay safe on your college’s campus this year, consider a few tips to make sure of it!
Walking/Classes:
- You should always try and walk with a buddy to class if you can.
- If you’re walking alone at night time, you should either be talking on the phone, or have a plan if anything happened. Walking alone at night is just a creepy feeling. If it’s dark, and no ones in sight, it is easy to feel a little nervous.
- If you’re really paranoid and think you may be in a bad area, try getting a pepper spray to keep on your key chain! Pepper spray is an awesome safety item.
- At some colleges stealing can be an issue. College students are desperate for money and will often steal anything they can get their hands on. Even if it’s your laptop, textbooks, etc. They want money! So, be sure you keep these items in a safe place!
Dorm rooms:
- You should always take care of your items and consider getting a safe when staying in a dorm room. A lot of people have parties and leave their stuff around which isn’t a good idea. Students find their stuff getting stolen, or “missing”.
- You never want to let anyone in your dorm room that you don’t know. If it’s not your friend, family member or someone you’ve even seen before, you’re best denying them, especially if your friends don’t know them and they show up for a party.
- A lot of college students like to party, it’s just known. Just be careful of how much you’re drinking. You never want to have too much, and you should always keep an eye on what you’re drinking. It’s sad to say, but people putting drugs in others drinks does happen. Don’t let this person be you! Even if you think you know them well, you may be surprised.
Safety should always be a number one issue! Always think what is best for you, and always plan for safe situations. So, when you go back to college this fall, you may want to consider a few of these safety tips. It’s always better to be safe than sorry!
