Staying Healthy During Your College Years
posted by FindCollegeCards.comWhen in college we often have a very busy schedule. Between going to work part-time and going to school full-time, there is little time to do the things we enjoy doing. Also, since we have such a busy schedule, there is often a lot of stress. Although college can be quite overwhelming at times, we need to make sure it doesn’t get the best of us, and that we remain healthy. There are a few ways we can make sure we cut out stress, and make college more enjoyable by staying healthy.
Sleep – When we are staying up late studying, get little sleep, and are getting up early for school, it is easy to not get enough sleep when in college. Try to arrange your schedule as best as you can to make sure you get at least 7-8 hours of sleep each night.
Eating – We also want to make sure we are eating the right foods. Getting enough fruits, vegetable, protein, minerals, etc are all important to get each and every day to help remain a healthy lifestyle.
Exercise – Not all of us enjoy exercising, so we need to make sure we find an exercise that we enjoy doing. Get some friends together, hang out, and play your favorite sport, or simply go to the nearest park or town for a nice walk.
Stopping bad habits – Make sure you stop all your bad habits while you’re young. You don’t want to grow up as a partier, smoker, and an alcoholic. So if you do these, limit them, or completely get rid of them. They aren’t good for your health, and are bad ways to start your life outside of college.
Relax – Take time to relax. Whether it’s for 10 minutes a day or 2 hours, spend time just relaxing on the couch, sitting outside and clearing your mind and the stress.
Enjoy – Also, take time doing things you enjoy. If it means taking an entire day off each week, so be it. Get out your scrapbooking supplies, the basketball, your rollerblades, or your favorite video game and just have fun like you did when you were a kid. It is important to enjoy life and not let work and school take over your life.
Although college may be stressful, you want to make the best of it. It is important that you take care of yourself, enjoy your days as a young adult, and maintain a healthy lifestyle. If you want to do this, consider these tips listed above.
