It is very common for college students to say, “I’m so busy I barely have time to sleep!”.  The college years can be very rough but it is always important to put sleep as one of your top priorities.  Sleep is important for college students especially since it will help their concentration in class, allow them to have better health and also will allow them to function better and get better grades.  Sleep is very important and you should always at least meet 6-8 hours per night.

Do you need some sleeping tips to get better sleep and to make sure you get enough sleep each night?  If so, continue reading below to see where you can start making changes in your life.

Your school schedule – First, when you choose classes make sure it is a schedule that you can stick to.  If there is a class that starts at 8 in the morning are you going to be able to get up at 6:30?  Find a schedule that works for you and doesn’t make you tired and sleep deprived.

Work schedule – A lot of times jobs want you to work late and be very flexible.  Although it is good to try to be, don’t go out of your way to work a 3-11 shift to then come back and work 7-3 the next day.  It is important that you get enough sleep and put your foot down!

Study time – Find a sleeping schedule that works for you.  Lets say you want to try and go to sleep every night from 12-8.  That is a very healthy schedule to start out on.  Although, don’t start your studying at 11:30 the night before the test.  We don’t get enough sleep because we don’t know how to manage our time.  Find the right time to study so it doesn’t overlap your sleeping schedule.

Leisure time -  It is very common for college students to NOT get enough sleep because of our friends and things going on.  Lets say it is 9 p.m. and the night before you only got 5 hours of sleep.  They want you to hang out and you know that you’ll probably be over their house until 3 in the morning.  Do you really think it is a good idea to go out?  Make a curfew for yourself to make sure you’re not out too late anymore.

Sleep time -  Create a sleeping schedule for yourself.  Say, I’m going to go to bed at this time and wake up at this time every morning!  This now means you will not be in bed later than the time you said and you will have to make some sacrifices to make sure you’re getting enough sleep.

Sleep is so important in college.  The students that are get 4.0s are not going to bed at 3 in the morning and waking up at 7 a.m.  They make sure they get enough sleep, have an organized schedule and put sleep and school first.
