Simple Steps to Make College Cheaper
posted by FindCollegeCards.comCollege is expensive, and all of us know that. The average college student can spend anywhere from $20,000 to $40,000 over four years! That’s a lot of money for a college student like yourself. Sure, you’re investing into yourself for the future, but there are some ways to make college even cheaper for yourself.
Always buy your books at a discount
Never ever buy your books directly from the college. You’re going to find that colleges charge you way too much for a simple textbook. Instead of paying full price for your book, try websites like Ebay, and Amazon to find books at a discounted rate. You might be able to find that $110 book for only $8!
Get rid of those older books
When you’re done with a class, and you don’t think you’re going to be using those older books anymore, turn around and sell them. Once again, Amazon, and Ebay are both great places to sell your books in order to get money back. I would recommend that you sell your books only if you don’t want to use them as reference.
Watch your overall expenses
College is more than your classes, and books. If you’re going to be staying on campus, you’re going to need a phone, your rent money, a car, and so much more. Make sure that you analyze each one of these to see how much money you can truly save on each one. You may find that something like Skype may work for your cell phone, or even Google Voice.
Consider a community college
Before you start with your public university, you may want to go to a community college for the first 2 years. This is going to save you almost 50% for the first two years, and most colleges work with the major universities. Since most of them work with each other, you can transfer your credit fairly easily.
