When in college most students have a very tight budget.  From spending money on books to classes, to gas money and other bills, money becomes very tight very fast.  It is hard being a college student with such a tough spending limit.  If you’re looking to save money there are a few things that can help with that.  Consider some of these tips below and start saving as much money as possible!

Get everything on sale.  Whether you’re buying groceries, books, school supplies, clothes, anything be sure to get it on sale.  Just think almost everything you want will go on sale at some point.  Many items you can get 50% off if you’re patient!

Always use coupon codes.  If you’re shopping online be sure to always use a coupon code.  Not sure what this means?  Let’s say you want to buy a new laptop for college and it’s $700.  Type into Google’s search engine “Dell coupon codes”.  A ton should come up and some will say like $50 off a purchase of $500 or 10% of entire bill, they’re always different.  This is always something you should do when shopping online!  It’s almost a guarantee every time!

Hit the clearance racks. If you’re going school shopping be sure to always at least check the clearance rack.  A lot of clothing is marked down for the seasons.  Let’s say its going to be winter soon and all the summer stuff is on clearance, shop for next summer and already be ahead of yourself.  You can usually always get at least half off so take advantage of it.  When summer comes do the same with winter and watch how much money you will save!  Also clearance racks are good for things like buttons missing, a tiny hole, or stain.  If you buy these you can usually always fix it at home.  How hard is it to wash out a stain, sew on a button and fix a tiny hole?  Keep this up and cut your shopping bill in half.

Avoid name brands.  When going shopping for simple things like groceries and school supplies you don’t need name brands.  If you’re buying let’s say permanent markers you don’t need the most popular brand instead get the store brand and save half.  This can really go for everything including clothes, groceries, school supplies, anything really.

Shop thrift stores.  Just try it!  Everyone looks down on it yet leaves happy and telling everyone what kind of deal they got.  You won’t believe what you’ll find in there!  They have almost everything you can think of too.  Some of the clothes are the top name brands and still have the tags on, meaning they were never worn.  You’re the foolish one if you don’t try out thrift stores and shop the richy rich places.

There are tons of ways to save money as a college student.  You just need to think about each and every item you buy.  Ask yourself can I go without this?  Consider these tips and watch yourself saving dollar after dollar.  It always feels good to tell someone how good of a deal you got so make sure you tell more stories!
