We all love to save money, especially when we’re in college.  Like most college students, we all have a pretty tight budget, don’t get the opportunity to work as much as we’d like, and therefore we have little money.  There are several different ways to save a few bucks here and there, but have you ever thought about how to cut some of your most costly bills?  Household expenses can be very expensive, therefore we need to think of creative ways to save money on those expenses.  Using a few of these tips listed below will get you on the path to saving money sooner than you think!

Roommate – First of all, you’re going to want to get a roommate when you get your own place.  Not only will they keep you company, but they will also save you a lot of money each month.  Lets say your rent is $700 per month, split that in half and that means you pay only $350 per month.  When you put it this way that means less time working at your job, and more time doing the things you enjoy.

Save on gas and air – We all hate to be cheap with our gas bill because we hate sitting in a house with an uncomfortable temperature.  Although, if you get a programmable thermostat you will save so much money!  You will be able to program the temperature to a higher amount when you leave, and lower at night that way you’re always comfortable and saving money.

Shopping places – Where do you do most of your shopping?  If you’re looking to save a few bucks, definitely consider taking a look around a dollar store, you will be amazed at what they have in there.  Also, try stores that are reasonable in price like Wal-Mart, and thrift stores.  Also, remember to buy items on sale!

Downgrade – If you’re really on a tight budget, you may need to consider downgrading a bit.  You don’t need HD channels, and the fastest Internet out there  Stick to basic for now so you can save up some more money.

Groceries - When it comes to groceries and that, always buy on sale, use coupons, and only allow yourself to go shopping once a week.  Also, try different brand names.  You don’t need to buy the most popular name brands for your food to taste good.

There are several ways to save money on household expenses.  If you’re looking for a few ways to start you out, and saving you money right now, consider a few of these tips listed above.
