Selecting a college isn’t a piece of pie. Just like choosing a car, a home, and everything else big in life, you have to sit back, and think about it before you go out and buy it. Since college is going to be another chapter in your life, you’re going to want to sit back, and think about what you’re doing, before you fully commit to a particular school.
I’ve come up with my golden rules when it comes to choosing a school. You’ll want to make sure that you follow these rules in order to find the college that is fit for you.
Arrange a college tour: Never ever just sign up for a college without checking out the college first. Would you buy a home without looking at it first? I hope not. The same is going to go for a college. You’ll want to meet with an advisor, and check the campus out.
Sit in on a class: Most colleges have 300-400 students in one class. They will never notice if you sit on in a class. Head to a class, sit in on it, and see what it’s all about. See if you like the atmosphere, and teachers.
Check out reviews: With some many websites online, it’s not hard to find what other people think of a particular school. With websites like StudentsReview.com, you can look at a college of your choice, and see what other students think of it. This will give you a good idea on what the majority of the students think.
Ask questions: When you set up an appointment to meet with your advisors, ask them as many questions as you can. Now, you have to remember that they want to get you to come to the school, so they won’t be negative. This is your turn to ask questions such as what they have to offer, etc.
It’s never to early to start thinking about college. As long as you follow some of these golden rules, you should be able to find a college that you love.
