There are two major issues that people tend to focus on.  One, people are always looking to save money, and two people are concerned about the environment and where it’s heading for the future.  What people may not know is that by going green, you are able to reduce the cost of your bills.  Simple, daily tasks that help the environment can also save people money.  A large group of people who tend to focus on these issues the most are college students.

College students are at that age where things start to get expensive and a lot more money is being fished out for bills.  Since college tuition is expensive, college students tend to be tight on money and limit their spending.  With such a tight budget, it is important to find ways to save money on as many things as possible.

Another thing college students tend to take into consideration is the environment.  There has been a lot of talk about how the environment is heading in the wrong direction.  On a daily basis we are wasting water, burning gas, polluting the air and not recycling recyclable products.

It is important that people know money can be saved by helping the environment.  College students have a perfect opportunity to really make some changes.  There are many ways to help the environment and save money at the same time it just takes creativity.  Through simple actions like carpooling, using public transportation, reusing water bottles, hanging clothes to dry instead of using a dryer and using florescent light bulbs, we are capable of saving a large amount of our money and help the environment at the same time.

There are a few ways that can really help out college students in particular.  Simply carpooling to the college campus is an excellent way to save on gas money and eliminate pollution.  If everyone were to carpool to class, the driving would be cut in half.  Also, paper elimination is very important for college students.  All the handouts from college professors really add up at the end of each semester.  If all the papers were reused, then recycled, money could easily be saved and so could many trees.  Water is also another issue that needs help.  By taking shorter showers and turning off the water in between brushing your teeth, you can easily save gallons per day.

College students are great candidates for helping out the environment.  They are young, can tell their friends and family about it and really make an impact.  All it takes is teamwork, the word of mouth and creativity to help the environment and save money.
