Reasons Why Students Leave College

Every year, thousands of college students leaves their college and never return. Why, you might ask? There are several reasons why students leave their school. If you think you may fall into one of the thousands that do, you may want to think twice because your education should be one of the most important things you get out of life. Here are few reasons why students may leave school.
Not paying attention - There’s a reason you should go to college and some students just don’t take that into consideration. Instead, they waste all their time and money on alcohol, drugs, and everything they shouldn’t be. Once their report card comes around, they find that they won’t be able to afford another semester. Since college isn’t free, it’s important that you don’t fail any classes because it’s just going to cost you more money.
Being homesick – Some students just can’t stand being away from home for awhile and that’s understandable. Thousands of students every year come back home just because they miss it. Some kids give it a chance and end up adapting, like most of us but some just can’t do that and don’t wait it out. Like anything in life, change can be good and if you’re not used to it, give it time and you’ll slowly adapt.
Taking a break- The worst thing that a student can do is take a break for a semester. Some kids will get bored of school and will simply take a break. This will come around to bite you in the butt because of the fact that they will never get around to signing up for classes again. Sadly many people will fall into this trap only ending up working a low paying job the rest of their lives.
Can’t afford it – Let’s face it, school isn’t cheap and when a student simply can’t afford their tuition, some just can’t take it anymore and just don’t go anymore. Most students can duke it out and will work two jobs while attending college but others think that’s too much work and sadly, they fall into the trap I mentioned above. They will work too hard while not going to school eventually never going back.
Wrong major – This one may sound funny but a lot of students and you may know people who have done this have simply dropped out of school or have taken a break simply because they don’t like their major. Some people think they know what they want to do when they are going into school but after taking classes, they find that it just isn’t for them.
These are just a few of the major reasons why students leave college. Leaving college should be your last choice when you’re thinking about leaving. Even if you have to take one class to get by financially, that’s great! As long as you stay in rhythm, you should be fine but once you stop, it could be dangerous because you may never want to go back.
