On Campus Living vs. Off Campus Living
posted by FindCollegeCards.comWhen you’re about to start college for the first time, or maybe you have been going for a year or so, there’s so much that you have to look forward to when it comes to going to college. One of those things that you have to consider is where you’re going to live. Since living is what you’re going to do on a day by day basis, you’ll want to know what the difference between on campus living is, compared to off campus living.
Both types of living have their downsides, and upsides. It’s going to be up to you when it comes down to deciding what will work best for you, and your education.
Rent: The first thing that you want to consider is how much you’re going to pay each and every month. 99% of the time, you’re going to find that living on campus is going to be easier for you since it’s included with your tuition costs. Paying less in the long run though doesn’t mean a better way of living.
Transportation: If you decide that you want to live off campus, you’re going to find that you’re going to have to drive to the college itself. You’ll want to look at how far away it is. Is it 5 or 25 miles away? If you live on campus, you can literally walk to school each and every day.
Your room size: The thing I like about living off campus is that you can actually have a home to live in. Unlike the dorm rooms, you’re going to have your own shower, and bathroom. On top of that, you won’t have to listen to other students party until 5 in the morning.
No rules: When you live on campus, you’ll find that you’re going to have to follow the rules, and they are generally more strict than living off campus. When you live off campus, you’re living with the rest of the world, rather than other college students. If you’re not a fan of strict rules, you may not want to live on campus.
On campus and off campus living both have their downfalls, and upsides. Do your homework when you’re looking for a place. If you’re looking for a place in the area, I strongly encourage that you check websites like Apartments.com for rentals in your college area.
