Obama's Community College PlanIf you haven’t heard of it yet, President Obama is trying to introduce his $12 billion community college plan that could potentially change the way that we look at community colleges as a whole.

A 10-year plan

Obama’s plan was unveiled in early July, and this is how it works.  The plan focuses mainly on associate and vocational degree program.  These will all be focuses at government-funded community colleges.  The whole purpose of this bill is to get people to go back to school, so that they are prepared for the future.

12 billion invested

With this plan, President Obama would like to invest $12 billion into the community college system.  Do you think it’s worth it, since we already have  trillion dollar budget?  Some may say that the community colleges are underfunded, while others may say that these type of colleges don’t get the respect that they deserve.

How is this going to work?

This plan is geared toward those that are looking to go back to school.  Obama is hoping that this money can create the most needed grants for those around the country.  Since technology is changing drastically, it’s important that many of these unemployed people go out there, and get jobs.  Without a skill set, it’s awfully hard to find a job in today’s market, unless you want to work retail, or hard labor jobs.

75% of this money is potentially going to go toward grants, and the remainder of the money would most likely go toward community college infrastructures, and the rebuilding of many college campuses around the country.

What do you think of this proposed plan?
