Making Extra Money as a College Student
posted by FindCollegeCards.com
As a college student, you’ve probably already realized how hard it is to keep money in your bank account. From buying books to getting food off campus, every penny adds up quick and it leaves your wallet even faster if you don’t have a job. Since there are a million ways to make money as a college student, let’s look at a few you can focus on in order to put a couple bucks in your pocket.
A part-time job – This is the most obvious but generally requires the most work. If you live on a big campus, there are probably a ton of stores around your area that you can look for job openings. Most colleges will have a job board right inside the school that will alert you on potential job openings. Simply browse the board and see if anything appeals to you. Remember, it’s always best to get a job that relates to your career. If you can’t find a job that relates to your career, don’t worry, if you need the money, any job is great for the future just because of job experience.
Create a business- When I say business, I just mean something small on the side. With the world where it is today, you can really capitalize on the Internet. Just think of it, with the Internet alone, you can cater to billions! Even if you’re not Internet savvy, you can take your business off the world wide web. Think of the many talents you have and try to think of how you can capitalize on them. If you’re good with writing, why don’t you write for the college newspaper? If you’re good with math, why don’t you tutor? Many successful business people of today started a business in college and continued to succeed for years to come. Being an entrepreneur is the greatest thing ever because the earning potential is endless. If you want to become successful in the future, it involves risk.
EBay - If you have a lot of junk laying around your house, see if you can start selling these things on eBay. Also remember at the end of the school year, you probably won’t need a lot of your college books. This is when it comes in handy to sell them on eBay. I recommend you sell them online because you’ll get the most for your dollar. Even if you don’t have anything to sell on eBay, you can also find great deals at local stores that you think you’ll make a profit online and try that for a test spin. Sometimes you’ll bring in more money than expected.
Making money as a college student isn’t really that hard, anyone can make money. It’s going to take action and a lot of self discipline. If you think you have both of these qualities, you shouldn’t have a problem making a few extra bucks during college. College is a time to learn and always put college first before your job. The only time I’d say you shouldn’t do this is when you think your business if going to be your future.
