Long Distance Relationship Advice
posted by FindCollegeCards.comAs a college student, you may find that you’re leaving a boyfriend or girlfriend behind for a while. You may come back or you may not. It will all depend on how far away you’re going to be. If you’re one of the many that are choosing college over a relationship, you shouldn’t feel guilty. Instead, think of the positive side on how you’re getting an education. If someone loves you enough, they will let you do whats right.
So, when it comes down to a long distance relationship, how can one make it work? Will it last? There are so many questions that need to be answered and I’ll help you with a few tips and pointers that you can hopefully use.
Always communicate daily
With today’s world of technology, it’s not hard to keep in touch. With e-mail, facebook, the phone, text messaging and so much more, find a few ways to keep in contact each and every day. Even if it’s a simple message through your e-mail, it’s the thought that counts. Remember, you don’t have to talk for hours to keep a relationship alive.
Meet each other here and there
With a relationship, you’re going to need some sort of physical contact. You can’t just rely on web cams and e-mail, it just doesn’t cut it. Instead, you need to work on seeing each other. Now, I don’t know how far you will live from your partner but if you’re only 80 miles away, you can make an attempt to see each other once a month, if not week. If you now say, live 4,000 miles apart, it’s going to be harder and that’s understandable if you can’t see each other each month.
Send gifts, make surprises
There are so many neat things that you can do to surprise your partner. Obviously, you’re going to have an address. As you probably know by now, everyone loves surprises. Send gifts, books, magazines or something you’ve made through the mail to show that you care and you’re always thinking of your partner.
Stay positive – it won’t last forever
Long distance relationships won’t last forever and that’s probably not what you’re intending anyways because there’s always an end. You have to keep an upbeat attitude and as long as you’re not jealous of one another, you’ll be fine. Stay focused, live your own life and sooner or later, things will get back together as they were before.
Sadly, not all long distance relationships work. The ones that don’t work are the ones that don’t try. Instead of thinking about all of the negative things, think of the great things instead. Work hard at it, make each other happy and keep in contact. Doing this alone will make everything 100%.
