Learning Outside of the Classroom
posted by FindCollegeCards.com
Everyone wants to learn some how and another, and if you’re thinking about attending college, but you don’t think you can afford it, you may not even have to go to further your education. In fact, there are so many careers out there that just look for skills, rather than a degree, and I wanted to give you some tips on how you can learn outside of the classroom, rather than going.
Do you need a degree to get a job?
The first thing that you want to ask yourself is if you need a degree in order to further your education. If you want to become a doctor, or a teacher, then you’re obviously going to know that you’re going to have to go to college in order to get that career. But, if you want to become a computer programmer, or potentially a photographer, these are all things you can learn on your own, and freelance yourself.
How do I learn these things?
Learning a career isn’t hard at all, it’s going to take motivation, and action on your part. I’ve always found that if you’re truly interested in something, you’re going to learn it. For example, I was always amazed by the Internet, and wanted to learn, so I decided to self teach myself, and here’s how I did it.
Buy books on your subject: Amazon is filled with millions of books that you can browse though. Buy the books used, and buy based on the reviews of other readers. Grab a few books that will teach you what you need to know. Read these books thoroughly, and test yourself. The more you read, the more you’re going to know.
Read forums daily: Every topic you want to learn has a forum online. Let’s say that you want to become a photographer. Go online, and find a photography forum, and read the topics. You can even join, and ask questions if you like. This is a great way to interact with people that want to do what you’re doing.
Watch videos: Youtube, and Amazon both are filled with wonderful videos on just about anything. Watch tutorials, and see how people do it in action. Sometimes, I find that people would rather learn by watching, rather than reading, and that’s okay!
Attend one time classes: If you have a parks and recreation in your area, you may want to attend the class for a one time fee. My local parks and rec services have great classes like photography, how to sell on eBay, etc. Check out these classes, and see if some work for you. The fee will be cheaper than college, and worth it!
