If you’re a college student, you may already know how challenging college can be.  Between working a part-time job and going to school full-time, we have little time to do anything.  One class that is often hard for college students is a foreign language class.  There is something about learning a foreign language that is challenging to people.  It is said that you learn a second language best before the age of 3.  Obviously, that’s too late for us, so we need to find helpful ways to make it easier to grasp in college.  How can we do that?  Continue reading below for tips!

Sentence structure – First, we want to get down the sentence structure of the French language.  If we can get this down and memorize how the word order works, we’ll be off to a great start.

Vocabulary - Next, we want to grasp some vocab words.  This means memorize your nouns, adjectives, verbs, etc.  These simple words can really help you learn to bring a sentence together.

Tenses –  Another thing that is important to get down is the tenses.  If you can distinguish past tense from present and future, give yourself a pat on the back.  Tenses are very important to learn, and need to be learned to put a sentence together.

Chapter reviews – Chapter reviews are a great way to learn a foreign language.  Often, people pay a lot of money for their textbook and rarely even open it.  The point of the book is to help you out, so use it!  Go page by page, chapter by chapter, and study at the end with the review.

Teacher – Your teacher is also there to help you.  So, if you’re struggling, don’t be afraid to ask for some help either during class or after.
