720361_friendshipCollege is a different experience for everyone.  For some of us it takes time to adjust, and others we can jump right in and feel comfortable.  What makes college difficult is when we don’t know anyone that will be attending the college we’re going to.  When we are away from friends and family and the same time, it can be pretty tough at first.  If you’re in this situation, and you’re looking for ways to improve your social life, and you want to make new friends, there are several different things you can do. 

Clubs – Often a lot of colleges hold clubs that you can join.  Whether you’re a Spanish or history nut, or you love art classes, there are several different things you can attend to make new friends.  Check out what your school has to offer!

Classes – Also, it is always a good idea to make friends with a few different people in the classes you’re taking.  Not only will you create study buddies, but you’re giving yourself the opportunity to make a life lasting friends.

Roommates – When in college we’re usually assigned roommates.  If you can, try and get along with yours.  See what the two of you have in common, and try hanging out with them and their friends!

Parties – We all know that college students love to party.  So, if you can try and get out a little bit.  Attend some of the parties, get to know some new people, and see who your new crowd will be.

Jobs – If you’re still having a hard time meeting new people, try getting a job.  Not only will you make extra spending money which is always good, but you will also be introduced to new people.  If you work at places that often have people your age like waitressing, stores at the mall, etc you’ll definitely find someone that you could make friends with.

It is important to have a social life in college.  We want these years to be fun, rewarding, and something to look back on and be able to smile about.  So, if you’re having a hard time meeting new people, definitely consider a few of these tips for making friends and improving your social life!
