Importance of Avoiding Fast Food in College

Since we were little we’ve known that fast food is something that isn’t good for us. There are a lot of ingredients that are unhealthy, and lets face it we gain a lot of weight when we eat too much. It is said that to stay healthy, you don’t want to eat fast food more than a few times a year. Although when it comes to college students it’s easy for them to eat it a couple times a week if not a couple times per day. There is something so wrong about this.
If you are a college student that eats fast food on a regular basis, you should really consider avoiding fast food for a few of these reasons!
Unhealthy – First of all, as stated above it’s just not healthy. If a doctor doesn’t recommend it, I’m sure that it’s unhealthy for a reason. Not only will you feel sluggish, but you won’t look as good physically.
Weight gain – It is a guarantee that you will gain weight. They say college students gain the “freshman 15″ because so many of them eat like garbage. If you don’t want to start shopping for larger clothes, and start looking fatter, avoid fast food. Look at “Supersize me” for example.
Condition yourself – If you get into the habit of eating fast food on a regular basis you will condition yourself to think it is okay. It will become a convenice and a regular habit if you don’t break it.
Brain food – When in college you especially need your brain food. If you eat like garbage you will feel like garbage. That’s why the saying “you are what you eat” is so true.
Lack of vitamins – If you eat fast food it’s almost a guarantee that you won’t get the majority of your vitamins. Vitamins and minerals are what keeps your body healthy and functioning correctly. Therefore if you don’t take care of yourself, you will be very deficient in vitamins which makes it easier to get sick, tired, and feeling lousy.
If you care about your body the least bit you will stop eating fast food so regularly. Don’t be the one to gain the freshman 15 because of a lazy lifestyle, but the one who stays healthy!
