We all have those days where it’s rainy and cold, the sky is dark, and there is nothing we’d rather do than watch movies all day and take a nap.  Although, unfortunately a lot of those days happen when we have to go to class.  Therefore, going to class seems like a huge chore, and is the last thing we want to even think about doing.

If you’re good, you’re going to go to class and not let that dark day get in the way.  Although, when we’re that distracted how can we stay awake?  The lecture seems like it’s never ending, the clock isn’t moving, and we feel like we could asleep at any minute.  If you run into this problem quite a bit, see what you can do to help you stay alert during your college lectures.

Get your rest – First of all, it’s a no brainer that you need to get enough rest each night.  You should at least get your 8 hours of sleep each night.  Make it a priority to go to bed early if you have to, and sleep in if you didn’t get enough sleep.

Eat – You need to start eating a well-balanced meal before you go to class.  If you just grab a donut and head out, you’re not giving your body what it needs to stay awake and feel good.  Instead, make a good sandwich, and have some fruits and vegetables.  Certain foods help you stay awake and keep you alert.

Fluids – If you don’t hydrate yourself, your body will automatically calm down and want to rest.  You need to keep your self hydrated and full of liquids.  It helps you stay alert, and is what your body needs to stay healthy.

Vitamins – It is a good idea for everyone to take a vitamin.  No matter how healthy we eat, they are important to take on a daily basis.  We miss a lot of good vitamins each day that we don’t realize.

Front – If these tips above aren’t helpful, trying sitting in the front row of class.  This will help you stay off Facebook, will keep you from sleeping and help you focus on what is important and why you’re even there.

If you don’t pay attention in class, there is no point in going.  You’re just going to dread it, it’s going to drag on, and you won’t get anything useful out of it.  So, consider the tips above, and learn how you can keep yourself awake and alert during the day!
