When times are hard, and jobs aren’t easy to come by, there are usually some job fairs going on to help you, and your searching. If you’re looking for a part-time job while you’re in college, and you know of a job fair that is coming up, get ready to find a job! Job fairs allow several students to become employees at all different places. The hard thing though is how can you stand out from all your other students? How do you get hired over everyone else? Continue to read below to find out how you can stick out at your college’s job fair.
Arrival – Make sure when you arrive to the job fair you’re on time. Employers will look for this, and is sort of a test to see if you could come on time to work.
Be prepared – You’re most likely going to be filling out several applications. So, be prepared for the questions. Know your social security number off the top of your head, and any information you think they might ask.
Resume – Have a college resume printed out. This means print about 10 of them so you’re prepared, and you can pass them out to the people your applying to. Many students won’t even think to bring one, so if you can have one prepared, you’re already one step ahead.
What to say – When you are having an interview with an employer they will most likely ask you what your goals are in life, why you want this job, what your talents are, and they will ask you why they should hire you. Be prepared for these types of questions, and have answers already figured out in your head.
Good attitude – Make sure when you’re interviewing or just simply asking for applications that you have a smile on your face, are friendly, and have a positive attitude.
For you to stand out at a job fair, these tips above are very important. There are many things that employers look for, and the ones listed above are some of the main ones. If you can master these, you’ll have a job before someone else who doesn’t follow these tips, much faster.
