Once your college course is over you probably never want to see that textbook again.  Since your class is done you should try to sell your book and get some of the money you’ve lost on it back.  Selling your books online sounds complicated but it is very easy to do.  Below is a list of steps to help you sell your book:

  1. First find the website that you want to sell it on.  There are many different websites that you can choose from like www.ebay.com, www.half.com, and www.amazon.com.  Now just find the website you’d like to sell your book on.
  2. Now that you’ve found the website you want to use, you will want to make an account.  Usually at the top of website it will say new member? Sign up here!  or something along those lines and that’s just want you want to do.  Click the sign up button.  Now just fill out the things they want you to do.
  3. Once you’ve filled out your information as in where you live, your name and so on they will ask you for your credit/debit card number.  This doesn’t sound right at the beginning but they are asking you this because once you buy or sell a book they will either take the money from your account or add it to it.  So this information is how you buy or sell things.  It is very safe, so you can now fill out that information.
  4. Once you’ve filled out all the information to create an account, you will want to make your book live.  Now that you’re a member you will have a page just for you.  This page allows you to buy books, sell books, pretty much everything.  Once you’re under your member page you will want to click something that says like “List an item” or something along those lines.  Once you’ve found that, fill out the information for your book.  This is how you will sell it.  It will ask for a title and any information you can give about the book.  Often they will have a picture and you can make sure it’s the right one up.
  5. Now you have to come up with a price.  Search the websites for the same book as yours and find out how much everyone is selling it for.  Keep in mind people are going to go for the cheapest on the website.  Once you’ve found a price, list the book for that amount.
  6. Now it just calls for patience.  Your book is now live and you will get an e-mail when someone buys it.  Some books sell the same day some take months, it’s always different.  The buyer pays for shipping and all the costs of the book.
  7. Now you’re almost done, this is the last step.  You now want to ship the book.  Once the buyer has bought your book and you’ve received an e-mail you should have an e-mail with the buyers information.  This is the information you want to use to send the book.  Write down the address, give the package a stamp and ship it out.  You will usually only have two business days to do so, so get it out as soon as possible!
  8. Now that it’s shipped you should recieve your money within 5-10 business days.  It usually takes about a week.  To get the money though you have to log in your account and go to something that says “Redeem money”.  This is how you send the money to your bank account. 

It seems like there are a ton of steps to selling a book but it is all really common sense.  Once you do it the first time it comes so easy the second time.  This is a great way to get the money back that you’ve spent!  Good luck!
