How to save Money on School Shopping as a College Student
posted by FindCollegeCards.comBeing a college student comes with a lot of bills. From paying for books, tuition, the high gas prices and all the other expenses it make leave you pretty broke. When school starts we often realize all the clothes we have from the previous years doesn’t fit anymore. We grow out of our clothes and wear them out to where we need new ones. Everyone likes to get new clothes but isn’t to fond of paying a lot. To make your school shopping a breeze read how you can save money on your school shopping this year.
Hit the clearance racks – There is no better feeling than knowing you got a steal on your new clothes. We love to tell our friends how we got away with only spending a few bucks on our new clothes. Shopping in the clearance racks is the best way to save money on school clothes. Who cares if its on clearance? If it’s cute and cheap get it!
Shop according to seasons – Often when the fall/winter season starts all the summer clothes are on sale. Take advantage of those sales for next year. It’s nice to already have clothes for the following year. You get the best prices when items are off season. Do the same for summer. When spring/summer starts get all the deals for the fall/winter clothes. Summer will be over before you know it, so stock up for the years to come!
Shop sales – Be sure to only buy your clothes when they are on sale. Patience is a way to save a lot of money. They items you want will eventually go on sale so just wait! Never buy anything that is full price. You don’t want to go back into the store where you bought an item in full price and see it’s on sale for 50% off.
Don’t wait until the last minute – If you wait to do your school shopping last minute you will find yourself spending more money than ever. You will be in a rush to buy clothes and not worry about what is on sale. If you get a few items over time you will be much better off.
Sign up for e-mail lists – Often a lot of stores ask you if you want to be on their e-mail lists. Agree to this! You will find out e-mail filling up with great coupons and sales that you never would of known about. Take advantage of these sales while you can!
School shopping doesn’t have to be something you don’t look forward to doing. Have fun with it, get good deals, and save your money the next time you go. Consider some of these tips and find yourself feeling good about the items you’ve bought.

What great advice! It’s been a long time since I went to college, but I still remember doing all these things and your tips certainly work!
I would throw in one more – buy second hand. Items like textbooks, bicycles or cars, even formal clothes… we bought these from our seniors who were glad to get a few pennies back on their purchase, and we got dirt cheap prices!
