Lets face it when students are in college they are pretty much broke.  All the money they’ve been saving has gone to either classes, rent, gas, cars, you name it.  It’s close to impossible to save money.  Or is it?  There are a few different ways college students are able to save money.  Consider the ideas below and start saving your money today!

  • Save on books.  There is nothing worse than spending a fortune on classes then to spend even more on books for the class.  Spend your money wisely and try buying books online.  Online can save you a ton of money!
  • Party less.  Booze can put a fat whole in your wallet.  Limit yourself.  One person does not need a whole 24 pack to themselves.
  • Try walking instead of driving.  When on campus we often just drive to our classes.  Try walking when you’re able to.  Add a friend even to make it more enjoyable!
  • Shop wisely.  When that time comes for buying school clothes, and holiday presents shop wisely.  You don’t need to spend every penny you bring in.  Catch things that are on sale and shop ahead of time.  Don’t wait until the last minute to do all of your shopping.
  • Skip the caffeine.  Many students often like to study and catch up with their friends at a local Starbucks.  Ordering something that is $5.00, 3 times a week is $15.00 you can say good bye to.
  • Cheap entertainment.  Go play outside and be a kid again.  You don’t need to go to expensive places or go see a movie for $15 with popcorn to have fun.  Go play your favorite sports with friends!
  • Be smart with your money.  If you have a savings account you should consider that as money that you don’t have.  It’s not money that should be blown, its money that is saved for an emergency that is why it’s called savings account.

When going to college it is very easy to spend your money.  Don’t fall into the cracks of blowing your money.  There are many easy and fun alternatives when it comes to saving your money.  Think of your future not for the moment.
