When going to college you often leave all your friends from high school behind.  Once and a while you might come across some of the people you went to high school with but it is pretty rare especially when you go away to college.  To make college more enjoyable you need a couple close friends to hang out with and study for school together.  Going to college for the first year is pretty foreign to everybody and we are all somewhat nervous at some point.  To find out how to make college more enjoyable and how to meet new people consider some of the ways below.

Classes:  The classes you take for your major is probably the best way to meet new people.  When you are taking classes that are interesting to you and other people are doing the same, you find people with the same interests as you.  This means you have things in common, and once you start talking hopefully you’ve found a new study buddy.

Clubs:  Whether you’re involved in a club for a foreign language or a history club, clubs are a great way to meet new people.  Once again getting involved in the things you love is a great way to find similar interests which is the key of friendship.

Sports:  Often students have a passion for a certain sport.  What’s better than playing for the school team or starting your own team to meet new people?  You can meet friends and now have someone to play with outside of school and during school.

Get a job:  When working with people you are often forced to communicate with one another which is good because that is how you get to know people.  If you’re working a job let’s say at an ice cream saloon and there are only two people working, you now have someone to talk to.  Getting a job is a great way to make friends.  Not only are you getting paid, you are also getting out and meeting new people. 

Volunteer:  If you have a passion for animals or love helping people you should definitely volunteer.  Volunteering is the most rewarding feeling you could possibly have.  Not only are you doing an extremely good deed but you are also getting out, doing something you like and meeting new people.

There are many ways to make friends when in college.  It is very hard once you’re done with high school and you realize your friends may be far away.  Broaden your horizons and do what you love.  Doing what you love only benefits, it is a great way to meet new people and enjoy life!
