Voting season is right around the corner and if you think your vote doesn’t matter, it does!  If everyone thought that way, who would vote?  If you’re going to vote, why not bring your friends.  Sometimes you’ll find that it’s hard to get your friends to vote with you.  If you find yourself in this situation, I have a few tips you can follow in order to get your friends out and vote.

Show them how important it is – Most students and people think that voting doesn’t matter, when it really does.  Bring out a small comparison sheet and show them how the candidates matter and what they can do for them.  Everyone running for office is different.  Let them decide who is best for their needs.  If you show them how they can help them with their lives, they may vote.

Look at history – Getting the right to vote didn’t come easy.  If you teach them a little bit about history on what this world had to go through to get to the right to vote, that could change a lot of people’s mind.  Some people just think it came the easy way, when this is the furthest from the truth.

Host a party – When the candidates are hosting debates on TV, etc., hold a party at either your house or a public place.  Have drinks, eat food and discuss what they are saying on TV.  Sometimes this alone will turn people around when it comes to voting.

Hand out flyers – If you want to reach out to your college campus, print up flyers and explain why voting is so important.  Even if you hand out 1,000 flyers and you only influence 3, at least you made a difference.  That’s three more people expressing their opinion.

Start a club – Most colleges have a voting  / politic club.  Here, you’ll be able to join other students that want to send out the same message as you.  If this sounds like something you’d be interested in, look at the organizations at your school.  If it’s there, simply sign up or inquire on how you can sign up.

Your vote matters and it’s great to try to get your friends up and vote.  Every vote counts, it’s a right and let your voice be heard!
