When signing up for college courses, we often worry that we’re going to get a bad college professor.  College is hard enough and when you throw in a bad college professor, it only makes things harder.  Also, we want to make sure we do well in college, maintain a good GPA and pass every class.  When we have all these expectations, and we get a bad college professor, it makes these goals much harder to achieve.

Ask around – One thing you may want to do is just simply ask around.  Ask your friends at college, people in your classes and your good friends for advice.  For example, if you’re looking for a good Biology teacher, ask everyone in your classes now and say, “Did you take biology yet, and if so who did you have?”  If they did ask them if they liked their teacher and why or why not.  This will give you a good idea who people like and who is a good professor.  Simply do this for every class and you’ll be closer to getting the best professors.

Who to avoid – This is another thing you’re going to want to ask all those people.  If they didn’t like the professor, be sure to keep that name in your head and you will know who to avoid.  So if someone didn’t like Mr. Brown and you have a choice between Mrs. Smith (you haven’t heard of her) or Mr. Brown, it would probably be a better decision if you go with Mrs. Smith.  You can easily eliminate who you don’t want to take a class with.

Good ratings – If you have a subject that you are just not good in, lets say Math, and you need all the help you can get, it is a good idea to go to the dean or counselor and ask who they prefer.  Just simply say I need the best teacher for math, who do you recommend?  They will tell you who has the best ratings and who people find the most helpful.
