In college, you’re going to find that it’s going to be awfully hard to study all by yourself all the time.  This is why I always tell everyone that they should form a study group, rather than study by themselves.  It’s not only going to help you comprehend better, you’re going to be able to work with others that are studying for the same class.

Find some classmates

Depending on what class you’re in, you’re going to want to find some classmates that you’re going to want to study with.  The thing here is that you’ll want to find some people that are reliable, and someone that can help you out.  This is why you should give it a few weeks during class to find who’s serious, and who’s not.

Set up an appointment and place

When you find a few classmates that want to get together, and study, you’ll then want to set up a place, and time each and every week.  If you all live on campus, this is going to make it easier for you since you can have everyone go to the college such as the library, a local coffee shop nearby, etc.

Treat it like a classroom

Each and every week, you’ll want to tell each other what you want to study.  Since you will all be on the same pace, you’ll want to study the chapter you’re on, or you’ll want to prepare for a test in the upcoming weeks.  Make sure you have a syllabus ready so that you’ll be prepared for your group.

Make it a challenge

When you’re ready to study with your group, make it a challenge.  No one likes a cake walk, where the questions are easy.  Instead, you’ll want to cram your brain with so much information that it will be nearly impossible to forget it all.  The more you challenge each other, the better it will be.

Study is the key

When you get with your study group, it’s okay to chat about other things, but don’t let that get you off track.  When you’re with your group, make sure that you’re studying the whole time, rather than chatting about unrelated things, this will only help you if you stay on track.

Study groups are great for your classroom, and they really do help with tests, and other things.  I highly recommend you get together with some of your classmates in class, because it’s only going to help you in the long haul.
