Often when college students first enroll in college they are lost on where they want to go in life.  They often feel pressured in trying to make up their mind quickly that they choose a career that isn’t right for them.  If we’re going to go all the way through college we want to make sure we come out with a job we love.  Choosing the right college career may be difficult but there are a few things that can help you determine what is best for you.

What are your interests? – First, a question that you’re going to want to ask yourself is “what are my interests?”  Once you know what your hobbies and interests are you will have a good idea for what road you want to take.  We want to find something that we enjoy not something that bores us.

What are you good at? – Everyone is unique and is good a something certain.  You may be good with computers, helping people out, good at math, or you may be really creative.  Figure out what you’re really good at and that can definitely help you determine where you want to be.

How much do you want? – Is there a certain amount of money you’re looking for with this career?  Would you rather have more money or be happy?  Or, what if you could have both?  Figure out how much you’re happy with per year and what you’re lifestyle would be like.  Then, find a career that interests you that makes in that price range.

Is it in demand? – Next, we don’t want to find a career that we absolutely love and then have it not in demand.  Find something that will always be around, makes decent money and you don’t have to live in another country to do.

Can you handle it? – So, you may have an idea what you want to do, but can you handle it?  There are way too many jobs out there that cause to much stress on people.  Find something that won’t wear you down or have you anxious or stressed.

For example, if you want to help people you may think of being a nurse.  Although the job does help people, it may be too stressful for you if you see injured people, people dieing and too many disturbing sights.  Find something that you won’t dread going to work for.

There are a lot of things to think about when you are deciding on your future career.  Don’t do what other people want you to do, do what YOU want to do.  Do what interests you, and what will make you happy.
